1 1/2 cups total BBQ pizza sauce (equal parts marinara sauce and BBQ sauce, plus 1 tbsp Italian seasoning)
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
2 tbsp olive oil
French bread, halved
2–3 tbsp melted butter
Garlic and herb seasoning, to taste
Finely shredded mozzarella cheese, for sprinkling
Thinly sliced red onions
Jalapeño wheels (optional)
Fresh cilantro leaves, for topping
Instructions
Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, mix equal parts of your favorite marinara sauce and BBQ sauce. Stir in 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning. Set aside.
Cook the Steak-umm: In a skillet, brown and chop the 2 packs of Steak-umm® Sliced Chicken Steaks with 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning and 2 tablespoons olive oil. Cook until heated through and slightly browned, then set aside.
Prepare the Bread: Carefully slice the French bread in half and brush generously with melted butter mixed with garlic and herb seasoning. Sprinkle a light layer of finely shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) until the cheese melts and the bread is lightly browned, approximately 4–6 minutes.
Assemble the Pizza: Spread an even coat of the BBQ pizza sauce on both halves of the bread. Top with the cooked Steak-umm mixture, thinly sliced red onions, additional shredded mozzarella, and jalapeño wheels, if using.
Bake the Pizza: Place the assembled pizza on a lined cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown, about 13–15 minutes.
Finish and Serve: Top with fresh cilantro leaves. Slice, serve with leftover pizza sauce, and enjoy!
